ALICE COOPER, IRON MAIDEN, DEF LEPPARD Among Winners At CLASSIC ROCK ROLL OF HONOUR Awards
November 7, 2006BBC News reports that Alice Cooper scooped the Living Legend award at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour event in London.
QUEEN guitarist Brian May presented the 58-year-old with the gong. A painting of the rocker, valued at £50,000, was also given to him.
QUEEN won two awards — Best Reissue for their album "A Night at the Opera" and the Classic Songwriter award, collected by Brian May and Roger Taylor.
DEF LEPPARD, IRON MAIDEN and the NEW YORK DOLLS were also winners.
DEF LEPPARD's "Hysteria" won the classic album award and the NEW YORK DOLLS won comeback of the year, although they were not at the ceremony.
The award for Album Of The Year went to IRON MAIDEN for "A Matter of Life and Death", and the band's manager Rod Smallwood took home the VIP award.
WHITESNAKE took awards for Band Of The Year as well as Best DVD.
The Event Of The Year award was given to the Monsters of Rock festival at Milton Keynes Bowl.
ROADSTAR took Best New Band, Phil Lynott won the Tommy Vance Inspiration Award and the Metal Guru award went to Ronnie James Dio from the band DIO.
